Why we choose to use gluten
At Sincerely Vegetarian, we choose to use gluten for many reasons. Vital wheat gluten can be prepared to create endless flavors and textures, with more protein that tofu or tempeh. Its density and chewiness are likened to that of chicken, beef or pork. We want our consumers, retailers and distributors to be well-informed about our products, so here are a few quick but important facts and myths about gluten.
- Gluten is packed with protein, rich in iron, phosphorus, microminerals and low in fat.
- Gluten is tasty, healthy and nothing else comes close in producing the chewy meat texture.
- Gluten-free diet is only to cater to those with celiac disease, intolerant or sensitive to gluten, and wheat allergy.
- Gluten-free diet has not been scientifically proven to help with weight loss. By giving up gluten for cultural and not medical reasons, you are eliminating so much nutrition from you diet.
